レビュー (Amazon) With sheer cheek at who the young Indy met, in this TV series the kid affected every major historical event in his lifetime! Musically that meant a never-ending demand for every style of music imaginable. The fourth suite on this initial volume--"Barcelona 1917"--allows Laurence Rosenthal to quote Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, and a take-your-pick montage of Gypsy Flamenco. Being a comic farce, he gets away with musical pratfalls and cartoon-like effects too. It's a more involving listen than "Peking 1910", which is a textbook example of how the West (i.e. Hollywood) makes the East sound. Joel McNeely makes a bigger impression with a grand waltz in "L'Affaire d'Amour" (looking ahead to "The Seduction of Princess Leia" in his Shadows of the Empire score), and his street cafe muse for "Paris 1916". The real highlight is McNeely's "Verdun 1916". Beginning with a nod to Mountains of the Moon, taking a little dip in the saga's gene pool with a touch of the Prologue from Raiders of the Lost Ark ("Nocturnal Mission"), and ending on a stunning choral piece ("Requiem"), it's clear to see why his career took off after this. And there are three more volumes to savour. --Paul Tonks 関連グッズ | ![]() |
